Truth
“So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
Ignite
I have recently had the privilege of taking a sabbatical of seven months from my job as a teacher. Last week, I realized that ¾ of my time off has already past. Wait! Stop! Slow down! I wanted to scream at the calendar. I realized that I didn’t have a lot to show for my time off. God wants me to make the most of everyday. This scripture tells us it’s another way He imparts wisdom to us. Busyness can cause us to allow our time to slip away just like sand slips through our fingers when we try to pick it up. Before we know it our busy lives are over and we’ve squandered much of our time. Women’s lives are especially busy and full of good things. However, how many times are we sacrificing truly great things for God’s kingdom for just good things? Be intentional everyday to seek God first. Pray before you start your day that you would live it to the fullest by seizing every opportunity to worship, to love, to encourage, and to witness.
Inspire
Tomorrow morning before your feet touch the floor, ask God to help you discern what He wants you to accomplish that day. It may or may not correlate with your “to do” list. Is there a friend you need to call, a card you need to send, a visit you need to make, or someone you need to forgive? Let 2 Corinthians 4:18 help you to remember that our days need to focus on things eternal.
