God Created Woman To Be A Life Giver

God Created Woman To Be A Life Giver

Life Giver

I discovered woman’s divine purpose of life giver when studying about the creation of the first woman in Genesis. Even her name expressed her divine purpose of a life Giver.

If we look at Eve’s name in the original Hebrew language her name means Life, living, or making alive. That original Hebrew word is a feminine proper name that comes from a root word that means to announce, to tell, to declare, show, make known, and a second meaning, to breathe.

  • That root word is used in Psalm 19:2. The Complete Word Study Dictionary of the Old Testament stated that the way the psalmist used the verb expressed the knowledge the heavens put forth in their movements and appearance. The same verb is used five times in Job 15:17; 32:6, 10, 17; 36:2. The Complete Word Study Dictionary of the Old Testament stated that the uses in Job expressed the wisdom and knowledge a person puts forth in speech whether young or old.

Genesis 3:20 is where we see Eve’s name appear for the first time in Scripture. Below is Genesis 3:20 in The Passion Translation and the New King James Version.

The man named his wife Eve – “Life Giver”

because she would become the mother of every human being.

Genesis 3:20 (The Passion Translation)

And Adam called his wife’s name Eve,

because she was the mother of all living.

Genesis 3:20 (NKVJ)

So let’s put all that together.

  • Eve’s name means, life, living, or making alive.

  • The root word, an action verb, means to put forth with a second meaning, to breathe.

  • Eve would become the mother of all living.

The summary understanding is that the original woman, Eve was a life giver, created by God to put forth life, the mother of all living. God’s original creation of the first woman was a divine precedent for every woman after her. i.e. We are divinely wired with a most unique ability and highest responsibility to put forth life.

The Enemy of Life

The very next scene in the Bible after woman is created is the appearance of the cunning serpent engaging the woman, i.e. the life giver, in conversation. Stop and think about that. The serpent, who as Revelation 12:9 and 20:2 tells us is the Devil and Satan, engaged the life giver. In John 10:10 Jesus told us more details about the serpent, the Devil and Satan.

The thief does not come except to steal, to kill, and destroy…”

John 10:10a

Can’t you see the methodology in his evil tactics. The moment the life giver was created, the enemy came to steal her life and every future life from her.

Think about how the enemy got her to go against her God ordained design. What happened when Eve listened to the wrong voice? What did she put forth? When Eve listened to the serpent, took the fruit and gave it to man, the result was death. Through Eve’s sin, she put forth death rather than life. However, we see Eve’s first action after the fall in Genesis 4:1.

Now Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore Cain.

Genesis 4:1a

Eve’s sin was a mistake that marked mankind no doubt. But even that initial sin that put forth death could not take away her God ordained design and purpose as a life giver.

Our true identity is rooted in Eve’s identity. We are life givers. Living out of our true identity we put forth life. Eve was a life producer and studying Genesis, I see this divine hard wiring deeply rooted in the women of Genesis. As women, we still carry that within us today.

How Can We Not Be Pro-Life?

With all that being said and in light of the world and culture of our day, I dare not shine light on this topic and not at least address what can be a controversial topic today.

How can we not be going against our divine design and our God-ordained purpose and responsibility as a woman when by choosing to take the life of a baby within his/her mother’s womb? Can’t we see the work of the enemy engaged in conversation with the woman, stealing, killing, and destroying the life she was meant to put forth?

Now just in case, you are reading this and you had an abortion in the past, I want you to know that you can have God’s forgiveness and redemption. If you want God’s forgiveness, ask Him. He will be faithful to forgive you. If you are carrying the weight of guilt and shame and maybe you can’t forgive yourself, bring your guilt and shame to God. Our God is the Redeemer. He takes our messes and mistakes and gives healing, restoration, and life. Because, Jesus, Himself is the ultimate life giver.

One last thing:

Does being a life giver mean that the only way we exemplify our divine design is by birthing babies? Absolutely not!

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I ask the question, What are some ways that we give life or put forth life other than birthing babies? Don’t dismiss what comes to your mind first because I think your first thought and inclination could potentially be linked to how God uniquely designed you to give and put forth life in this world. The first thing that came to my mind in how I answer that question is, Speak it! That is what I do, I speak life through teaching God’s word.

Dear Sister, let us stay true to our Creator and who He created us to be – Be a LIFE GIVER in everything you do!
